We really just can’t believe that we have been so blessed by God to have the opportunity and priviledge to spend days like this. My family decided to make the trek to Tarryall Resevoir about an hour from where we are staying on the recommendation of a local. She said this should be a good kayaking lake and a pretty spot in the mountains. Boy, was she right on the money.
County Road 77 is gorgeous, twisting along a creek, and mostly paved well, which makes it perfect for riding. There was one spot with “damaged road” for 8 miles that was coated with bumpy tar and gravel, which was not so fun. After that stretch, however, we were given beautiful, new, smooth asphalt which was an amazing gift.
After lunch at the lake where everyone got to go kayaking and fishing until the wind picked up too much, we headed further up the road in hopes of checking out another scenic way home. Unfortunately, the rain started to move in and was definitely hovering over our chosen path, so we headed South to FairPlay and then took Colorado 9 back to US-24 for the straight shot back to the lodge. We stayed away from the rain all day and got to see a lot of beautiful vistas. By the time we got back, the clouds were closing in again and the air temp gauge on the Harley said 55 degrees. Chilly!
Glad to be back home and comfy again and ready to rest up for our next exploration. Hope you enjoy the pics as much as we did the ride! Here’s a map of our travels today:
