On the top of Bob’s Bucket List is to ride the PCH in California. Highway 1 follows along the Pacific coast for hundreds of miles. Unfortunately, through the Los Angeles area, this means a lot of traffic and people. We first reached the PCH in Laguna Beach, where we were treated to some great views and flowers.
The stop and go traffic got so bad, we headed inland to the 405 just to get through the area in decent time. It still took us 5-1/2 hours to go about 160 miles, so you can envision our travel speed.
The surf was up today, so the beaches were packed.
We stopped for dinner at Neptune’s Net in Malibu. It was PACKED, but they were pretty fast and the fish was awesome!
Fortunately, after this stop, the road opened up a bit and we got to enjoy the twisties, sea salt spray and great views.
As we entered Ventura, we were greeted by a wall of clouds.
It was crazy, but fortunately, the end of our first day. We had a great ride and can’t wait to see more in the coming days. San Francisco, here we come!
